Stay Away From These Fast Foods Bad for You!
The majority of us, including you, recognize that there are many fast food bad for you and your children and are possibly the most unhealthy foods we put in to our bodies….yet we can’t seem to stop ourselves from indulging!
Okay, so the attitude “a little bit of what you fancy does you good” is adopted by many of us so that we can have a little bit of something that is not considered to be healthy; but there is something about fast food that seems to draw us in more regularly than perhaps it should.
The unfortunate thing is that many people know that fast food is not a healthy option but they have absolutely no idea why it is not good for them. Let’s look at exactly why you should avoid them like the plague.
If you are looking to turn your life around, get in shape and start to eat in a healthier way altogether, then stay away from these fast foods – bad for you in a big, big way!
Stop Drinking Soda Pop!
Although not technically a food, drinks are still a large part of our diet – we all need liquid in order to survive, right?
Well, if the liquid that you are thinking about is soda then the answer is no!
In fact, soda is one of the unhealthiest things that you can put into your body. Not only is it full of sugar, it also contains many hidden calories.
For example, if you gulped down a 8oz glass of soda, you will actually be consuming a whopping 97 – 106 calories, which is a large chunk of the recommended average daily calorie intake for a human being.
Well guess what…in 2008 it was estimated that the average American drinks 412 8-oz servings of Coke every year totaling between 39,552 and 43,672 calories per year.
Instead of falling for the sugary trap of soda, try to steer yourself towards water or even natural juices as healthier alternatives.
French Fries and Deep Fried Foods Contain Cancer Causing Arcylamide
Another one of these fast foods that are bad for you! culprits are deep fried foods such as French fries. In fact, anything that has been fried in oil at a very high temperature should be avoided as far as possible.
In 2002 studies conducted in Sweden found that these types of food contain high levels of a chemical substance known as Acrylamide, which is a carcinogen. This substance is formed when starchy foods have been exposed to cooking at high temperatures and many other studies suggest that there is a link between Acrylamide and cancer.
Just think, that all of those fries that people eat in the fast food restaurants are not only contributing to mass weight gain but are also promoting the development of cancer in your future. Don’t you think you should stop eating them now?
Foods Containing Hydrogenated Oil = High Saturated Fats!
As you may or may not be aware, much of the fast foods that are available throughout the world are full of saturated fats. Saturated fats are what you could term to be “bad fats” and are present in hydrogenated oil, an ingredient that is used in the preparation of a vast majority of junk food.
This type of fat can also be found in many ingredients that are solid at room temperature such as lard, margarine and butter, which can also be used in the production of foods such as cakes, sweets, pies, pastries, donuts and cookies.
The impact of saturated fats on the body is immense; too much saturated fat in your diet can raise your cholesterol levels, which in turn, could result in life-threatening illnesses such as high blood pressure and heart disease.
These fast foods can also contribute to conditions such as Type 2 Diabetes, as they help to raise the blood sugar levels in the body due to the amount of refined sugar that they contain.
Sodium Nitrite in Processed Meats
Last but by no means least in the category of “stay away from fast foods as they are bad for you in a huge way” are those foods which contain sodium nitrite (not sodium nitrate but it is closely related).
This ingredient is what is known as a “carcinogenic precursor” which means that it can turn into a carcinogen and become dangerous once it enters the human body.
As you read above, carcinogens have been linked to serious illnesses, specifically cancer. The kinds of foods that contain sodium nitrite include processed meats that you may put on submarine sandwiches or baps, and other meats such as sausages, hot dogs and even bacon.
As you can see, there are several reasons why you should cut down, if not completely eliminate fast foods from your diet. You may have been aware that fast food was not good for your health; but hopefully you are now enlightened as to the real reasons why you should completely avoid this type of food – stop endangering your life now!
